“So, I have one of these on the way from Ebay: I honestly couldn’t remember where/how I acquired this guitar until I stumbled across this in an email dated November 1, 2004… I need to play it more to really figure out if it is better/worse or just different than my other guitars. My big hands and long fingers sometimes seem to be looking for a bit more neck to grab onto. But this is the thinnest guitar neck I’ve ever played.
I’m not sure that I’d say I “don’t like” it. I like that the Kramer gives me a 25.5″ scale option with 24 frets. I have mostly Gibson scale guitars with 22 frets. The relatively flat 16″ fingerboard radius feels nice to me. The alder body with flame maple veneer is resonant and beautiful. There is no extra space in the neck pocket. The instrument cable plug is recessed into the body for a solid, flush fit. Body contours make it fairly comfortable. Not mirror polished, but no rough spots or fret sprout, and the ends are very cleanly finished. No cuts from frets! Factory fretwork is nice. Not the sloppy knock-offs commonly found on cheap guitars. Speaking of tuning keys… they are very nice and tight Gotoh tuners. The tuning keys are easy to get to with them all on the top side. Slick enough to move around the neck easily without the grabbiness of a thick lacquer or poly. The back of the Canadian hard maple neck is exactly what I prefer – a super smooth satin finish. The neck dive of my Gibson SG is not present at all The guitar is incredibly well-balanced. Some things I like about playing the Striker Custom S-422CR I honestly find the fit and finish of everything on this Kramer guitar to be leaps and bounds above what I would expect given the fairly modest price. As a mid-range budget guitar offering when new, one might be forgiven for assuming this guitar would be a flaming turd, bordering on unplayable. I am very much a novice guitar player just learning the instrument. #Photos not uploading to mac serial number#
So, it is only natural that I keep finding Korean guitars that hit the right price vs value spot for me.Īccording to some posts on similar guitars on a Kramer Guitar discussion groups, the serial number would indicate this was made in 2002 at the Samick Plant in Incheon, South Korea. I’m finding a trend in my guitar acquisitions… I’m a value hound.Īnd it appears that from the 90s on there were some amazing deals available on guitars made in Korea that deliver a tremendous amount of performance for the money.
